Are you really giving your pain the space it needs?
Hello you lovely, lovely people!! Dan Mangena here with another blog for you. Today on the topic of honouring your pain.
What do I mean by that?
Well I caught myself recently, in the midst of a challenging time; taking an attitude of “I don’t need to worry about this, I got this.” It’s probably a situation we’ve all found ourselves in, right? Choosing to brush things under the carpet, because we know that we can deal with them.
OK, but we have to watch ourselves when we do this. We have to be mindful of the fact that, in not dealing with something, we run the risk of it festering and turning into something much worse.
I don’t want you to confuse this with having a victim mentality, but sometimes we can brush past things because we know how strong we are. In doing so: we don’t give whatever challenging situation that has presented itself, the respect and attention that it is due. We suppress it, it doesn’t get dealt with and we end up giving our pain more power!
So my advice is simple: celebrate your power, of course, but also allow yourself the space to honour your pain and deal with it. Don’t wallow or revel in it, of course; this is not about giving you excuses. Just have the awareness of your situation and what you need to really understand your pain, see it for what it is and deal with it conclusively.
