Your mind isn’t the only part of you that’s worth listening to!
Hey Dreamers!
It’s blog time once again. I do hope that these are being of service to you all and that you’re finding them all worth while. If you are enjoying them, you think they could be better or you have a topic you’d like me to cover in a future blog; please leave me a comment or drop me a note: https://dreamwithdan.com/contact/
OK so today I wanted to touch on this business of really listening to your body. It’s so easy for us to ignore what’s going on down there, in ‘torso town’, but energy travels through all of our being, all of the time. Sometimes it gets stuck in places that we’re unaware of, be it as muscle tension, a cyst or any of a whole raft of ailments.
Emotions are ‘energy-in-motion’ don’t forget. You don’t just feel them in your head, do you? They radiate out through you and different parts of you will resist or accept them to varying degrees.
Now naturally our overall energy levels go through cycles and eventually we need rest. There’s a meme going around, in connection to a Banksy piece, about ‘when you’re tired; learn to rest – don’t stop or give up.’ I think that this really highlights an oft overlooked distinction.
There are observable seasons in nature, from the clearly defined annual seasons, to those found in the life-cycles of microbes. Energy is in a constant state of ebb and flow all around us, so why don’t we listen to how our bodies connect with that?
Throughout the course of the day, there will be natural peaks and troughs in your energy. You’ll be better at focussing on tasks at certain parts of the day and relaxing at others. There’s nothing wrong with that, if you can stay present, aware of the changes when they happen and keep moving in line with how your body is resonating.
Rest when your body tells you to and work when your body is ready. The problem comes when people don’t check in with themselves, the natural need for rest passes and then you just carry on doing what you were doing before. This all too often leads to laziness and inaction, maybe even using the missed rest period as an excuse for not moving forward!
So my advice to you is to really check in with your body throughout the day. Get to know the signs of when you need rest and when you’ve had enough, so that you can optimise your productivity. I don’t just mean: so you can work more. This will improve many areas of your life, whether it’s being more present as a parent or more attentive as a spouse.
How can we do this? Well there are a number of ways in which to clear and center ourselves. If you’re stuck for some examples, head over to my Free Resources page (https://dreamwithdan.com/free-resources/) and download my Clearing Encyclopaedia.
For a lot of you, meditation will be the key to getting yourself present and in tune with your body, but find what works for you. Sometimes just focussing on your breath for a few minutes is enough to start hearing what your body is telling you.
Send you focus up and down your body and really pay attention to the areas that give you something back. It could be pain, discomfort, tingling, relaxation… anything. Focus on those spots and consciously send them love. Even if this is just thinking of the word, love is a high vibrational frequency. It will help to disrupt whatever else you’ve got going on and begin attracting more of what you want.
There’s a lot more to expand on here, so we’ll save that for another blog, but for now; just practice listening to your body and getting used to following its lead.
Thank you so much for reading this blog, from the bottom of my heart! If you enjoyed this, I produce regular Do It With Dan blogs, podcasts and videos.
