Is frustration around not achieving your goal holding you back?

Welcome once again to the Dream With Dan blog everyone!!
Todayβs subject came as a result of one my Q&A sessions, that I regularly hold in my Facebook group. I encourage you to join up with us there to connect with others and have your questions answered.
Today I wanted to tackle something that I think will serve a lot of you: how do we deal with frustration, when faced with obstacles and obstruction on our way to achieving our goal?
This comes back to frequency and our emotional state.
As I show in my Flow Funnel model: it all starts with our emotional state. Weβve all heard of βcrimes of passionβ and βimpulse purchasesβ. Our emotions have the ability to override our actions and our thoughts, pretty easily!
Our belief systems are also tied up in this. They hold a lot of sway over what we believe is possible and therefore what we will follow through with.Β
What we are doing when weβre frustrated, is polluting our emotional state in relation to the goal that weβre seeking. If the emotional state is being polluted, the likelihood that we will achieve it is going to be significantly diminished.Β

So my first piece of advice to you all, if you find yourself in a place of frustration around achievement (or any other form of disempowering emotional state): is to understand that if you allow yourself to be in that state, you are allowing yourself to have a negative impact on achieving your goal.
Your emotional state is the first point of contact that your thoughts have with the world. Yes, the actions we take are a very important part of our progress, but they are only executive. If, in that first point of contact, weβre frustrated and in a disempowering state: the likelihood is that it will pollute and/or prevent our desired outcome.
Think about it: executing a plan, born in frustration is not going to lead to empowered choices and actions. Youβll just be doing that which I often warn about in my coaching, podcasts and blogs: trying to create from a space of lack!

What are some tips and tricks that we can use, in order to get around being in a state of frustration?Β

Firstly – relax! Find ways that you can destress and download, so that you reduce the importance levels you place on your goals coming to fruition. Your frustration is simply perpetuating more of itself.
Secondly – identify the smaller steps that will get you to your main goal, break it down clearly and then start witnessing success with each step. This will support you in building a better relationship with the goal, by giving it an emotional charge of positivity and success.
This is one of the reasons that I encourage βmicro-shiftingβ in trying to achieve goals. Each of the smaller steps have a lot less importance attached to them, and thus generate less stress, anxiety and potential for frustration. You also have much less chance to massively backslide, once you have that support undergirding you.Β

My thanks to Faheem Ahmad for this question and I encourage any of you with questions to join our FaceBook group. I have so much gratitude for Faheemβs question and any others like it, because they are all in service of the rest of us.Β
