Stop claiming to be a victim of circumstance and reclaim your power!
Welcome back everyone, to another week and another blog. This time I’m talking about how you are responsible for everything!
This blog was inspired by a lovely chat I had with host Annastacia Wainaina, over on the Freedom Fire podcast. You can listen to the full episode here:
So Annastacia asked me what I meant, in my work, about people being ‘responsible’ for what they create, and have created so far, in their life. It’s something that I talk about a lot in my work, and it’s often the first stumbling block that my clients come to on their journey with me.
I get that, on the face of it, being told that everything up to this point in your life was your responsibility is a bitter pill to swallow. There will be many things that I’m sure just happened to you out of nowhere, that you can point to and claim to have no responsibility for whatsoever.
OK…well yes, I’m sure that the events themselves could well have happened without your involvement. What you choose to do in response to those events is/was up to you though!
We always have choice, clichéd as that saying is. Giving it away through victimhood is incredibly disempowering.
Even that, though, is a choice! Why are you making it?!?
Let’s back the truck up for a minute though and talk about the scientific reason for why you are responsible for everything. I want to strip away the esoteric language and just get to the nuts and bolts.
I’m no scientist, let me say that upfront. I do study science though and I ask experts in their field what their opinion is on this stuff, all the time. I believe in interrogating this stuff fully.
Anyway: when we look at reality, at a fundamental level we are looking at energy taking different shapes, in differing combinations.
Break anything down into its smallest constituent parts, and you will see that it is 99.999% energy.
So if the smallest part of us and our reality is 99.999% energy, then it stands to reason that we are 99.999% energy. Energy does not take shape unless it is given an expectation. That is to say: it has to be told what shape to take by something.
Energy does not take shape without the expectation of an observer and so, in the absence of an observer there is no reality.
“I think therefore I am” or to put it another way – “I think therefore I experience”.
Not to wax philosophical at you too much, but you get the point? It’s our thoughts that give shape (through our resulting expectations) to what our reality looks like!
So why are we responsible for everything?
Because our entire reality is a byproduct of the expectations that we place on it, and those expectations result from our thoughts.
As I’ve spoken about before: I had a late diagnosis of Aspergers Syndrome when I was 27. This meant that I spent a significant portion of my life on the Autistic spectrum, without knowing it. My score was such that, I didn’t fall into the category of needing specialist help, but I am also ‘noticeably far away from normal’ – let’s put it that way.
“Ah but Daniel, you didn’t know till you were 27, yet still suffering from it before then. How can you be responsible for that?”
Well…only if you assume that I was indeed “suffering” with it. I’m fortunate in that the form of Aspergers that I have, makes me quite high-functioning. It has its main impact on my social interactions and relationships, but once I was diagnosed; everything started to make sense!
I might struggle with social interaction naturally, but thanks to my higher functioning in other areas: I have found work arounds that allow me to operate perfectly normally in social situations.
I have taken that knowledge and chosen a reality for myself, unencumbered by my Autism. How? By focussing on my strengths, not making excuses and creating a reality for myself that doesn’t include the supposed restrictions that come with such a ‘disorder’.
See, this is it in a nutshell though: taking responsibility in that way requires work.
It takes mental fortitude to accept and keep choosing to draw strength from your circumstances.
It’s not that the avalanche happened that was your responsibility, its the expectation of what the avalanche does that is!
Another way in which my Aspergers helps me, is in breaking down the modalities I use to create wealth and success, in such a way as to be understood by everyone else.
I need to do this for my own understanding and this offers me a pretty unique opportunity to coach others.
Understand that I have made millions, lost them, made them again, lost them again and fully given up! I had to row myself back from rock bottom (and I do mean Rock Bottom) but now I am back in a space of wealth and abundance, living my dream life and not having to worry.
Because I took responsibility for my situation! I was responsible for everything!
The second time I was wiped out and ready to chuck in the towel on life, I realised that the reason I had lost it all again was because I didn’t know how to be a millionaire.
I knew how to make myself millions, but I didn’t know what being a millionaire actually entailed. I didn’t know how to live at that level. So I lost it all.
Understanding that and taking FULL responsibility for that gave me everything I needed to know. I knew where I had to focus and what part of me had to shift.
Now I live my dream life, certain of my ability to hold on to it and maintain it. Fully secure and fully responsible.
So my plea to you, dear reader, is to start looking for the areas of your life that you are perhaps not happy with or would like to change. Could be your finances, love-life, whatever… Look at it from the point of view of how you can take responsibility for it.
Not culpability! I’m not saying that other people’s choices are necessarily your fault, but where you can start to make more expansive choices, even in the face of parent catastrophe.
I promise you: you will start to become much more empowered as a result!
Give it a try.
