Lesson 1: you must be stable before you can be free, let alone – abundant.
Hey everyone, Dan Mangena here – welcoming you back to my blog once again. In a change from the norm, I’m going to be doing a three part series of articles about what I’ve learned from the people I’ve failed to make millionaires.
Now for those of you who maybe don’t know: I run a program called: Micro 2 Millions. The concept is all about starting from scratch with someone and getting them to a million-plus net worth. We do this primarily through encouraging folks to take micro-steps towards their goal of a million dollars/pounds/euros etc…
I often talk about the need to be crystal clear on our goals before we set about trying to achieve them, but the beauty of Micro 2 Millions is that we already have that.
Yes: we still have to do the internal work to identify what that will look like to us, but we don’t have the stress of identifying our end goal: we want to make millionaires of ourselves!
Anyway – I get my clients to start with a hundred bucks (of whatever currency) and go about doubling their total until they reach one million. There’s no need to start with anything, they are given all of the coaching, literature and guidance that they should need.
We take everything in baby-steps or “Micro-Shifts” so that we avoid overwhelm, create a solid foundation and have a more assured path to success…this is the idea anyway.
So what I’ve found is that not everyone makes it, and that’s totally ok. I think some people (despite my best efforts) really, truly believe that they want to be a millionaire when really, deep down: they don’t!
Again: totally fine! There’s no judgement from me on that at all!
So coming back to what I’ve learned from those I’ve “failed” to make millionaires – I wanted this week to talk about the necessity to be stable before you can be free, let alone: abundant.
A huge (and mean HUGE) part of what keeps people from creating wealth and abundance in their lives, is trying to do so from a space of ‘lack’.
What do I mean?
Well it’s all about the stories that we tell ourselves and how we show up. We’re all highly-skilled, expert manifesters. In fact everything in your life, to date, you have manifested. Well done. Take a bow!
The trouble comes in the form of the narrative that we form around what is possible.
From birth our brains start to build a picture of what reality looks like. Then, as we get older and can understand others; we are suggestible. Meaning that we begin to imbibe the stories of others, usually our parents and other family members.
I can’t tell you the number of my clients who have limiting beliefs around money, and what is possible for them, born out of whatever their parents told them as kids.
“Look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves!”
“Waste not, want not”
“A fool and his money are soon parted”
“A penny saved is a penny earned”
“Don’t live beyond your means”
…and so forth.
Now look, I get it: these sayings are designed to invoke shrewd spending habits, so that you don’t run into problems in the future and go hungry.
The problem is that they can end up so engrained in our subconscious, that they begin permeating our whole outlook. They restrict how we view our finances and filter them through a prism of ‘lack’.
We can not make millionaires from a space of lack. We just can’t.
Now, it’s not like I didn’t know this before hand. Working on our inner game and fixing our limiting beliefs around money is, and has always been, a huge part of the program.
What I’ve learned from those I’ve failed to make millionaires (yet) is the degree to which these stories/patterns need to be disrupted, and just how much stress people face when they’re in survival mode.
This is why I really seek to move people out of a state of stress and survival, before we do anything else.
If you think about it, if you want to make yourself a millionaire you need to be able to think and act like a millionaire.
Do you think that they are stressed about paying the bills?! No of course not. That’s one of the reasons, I’m guessing, that you want to be one!
So to help support people in getting out of a space of stress and lack, when it comes to wealth; I created a free 0-100 challenge. This came out of my “Getting Beyond the Hole” webinar.
We’ve also got the incredible people in my Micro 2 Millions community, all of whom are here to support each other and share their wins with each other, not to brag or sow division, but to help others build up a new set of beliefs around what is possible.
Another huge issue that I’ve seen in the people I’ve failed to make millionaires, is that they think that these new belief systems have to be beaten into them.
They flog themselves for getting things wrong and acting on their old programming, which is not what I want at all!
In beating ourselves up, we’re placing ourselves right back in a state of lack.
We’re engraining unworthiness in our attitude, and we can not afford to do that!!
So what I encourage folks to do, including you dear reader; is to remember that a new belief system has to be built up in the same way that your existing one was.
We can do things to expedite the amount of time it takes, but you have to start drip feeding new evidence to your subconscious that supports your new reality.
I have to remind myself that, for so many people: they simply don’t believe that it’s possible for them to experience wealth and abundance. This is why I bring in so many mentors and coaches, to share their experiences with everyone.
I want people to see that wealth isn’t something reserved for others.
You can check out a lot of those conversations for free over on my podcast. In fact I’m launching a new series on Monday called “Beyond Success” which is tailored towards connecting you with the best business minds and guides in the world.

We have to disrupt the pattern of lack before we can move on. It’s a process of healing and what we don’t heal repeats. So it really is the first hurdle that we have to clear, before we can go on to make anyone a millionaire.
If we can create and lock in that stability in our beliefs, we create the solid basis for creating as much of whatever we want!
That’s all for part one!
I’ll catch you soon with part two of what I’ve learned from the people I’ve failed to make millionaires.
