It’s all on you, but here’s why taking responsibility is a beautiful thing…
Howdy everyone, I want to touch on the need for taking responsibility in our lives today, and also (more importantly) why we should!
I hope that this finds you living your best life, in a state of beautiful abundance and joy, just flowing and keeping things groovy. If it does not, if you are finding yourself in a state of stress, anxiety or lack: then here’s a hack for you to turn things around and reclaim your power:
Take responsibility…for all of it!
OK so, let’s unpack that and really get to the heart of what I’m talking about here.
Understand that, at some level, you chose the life that you’re currently living. I know that’s uncomfortable and for many people, it’ll be reason enough to close their browser and stop reading, but try to understand that the only reason you feel that way is because you know it’s the truth.
As uncomfortable as it may seem on the face of it though, try to see that by understanding the need for taking responsibility; you also regain your power over it all. If you understand that, even though your conscious mind didn’t want to live in debt and uncertainty (for example), your subconscious never got the memo and so executed it’s plan perfectly to keep you where you are!
I’ve said this till I was blue in the face, and then said it some more but:
Just like the afore mentioned folk who clicked off this and went on their merry way to look a more comforting things; your subconscious will fill you with emotional resistance to anything that challenges the orthodoxy. It’s had millennia to evolve and perfect its craft, and so it’s become incredibly adept at keeping you safe.
“Bully for my subconscious” I hear you say.
Yes, but it doesn’t understand or care whether or not the state it’s maintaining is one you truly desire or not. It just knows that whatever you’ve been doing up until now hasn’t resulted in your untimely demise. Therefore: keep doing that! Including shying away from taking responsibility for your situation.
You will recognise this in situations where you have the chance for expansion in some way. If a new job opportunity comes through let’s say, or the offer of an investment opportunity, maybe a voucher for free kickboxing or acting lessons; whatever it is, you’ll feel that resistance almost immediately.
Completely unsolicited, your head will begin to fill up with countless reasons as to why this opportunity just won’t work out. Maybe the job would require too much time away from home, or the investment might not work out! You might injure yourself kickboxing, or make a fool of yourself acting.
You’ll wind up telling yourself that it just isn’t for you. That you’re better off staying in your lane (not taking responsibility).
That’s fine of course, if that’s what you truly want. You need to have done the honest work in getting to that conclusion though. You need to be comfortable in taking responsibility for it!
So this is really where the work sets in: drilling down into why you really want something. See most of us don’t want expensive cars, jewellery and a mansion to live in for their own sake. More often than not; the luxury lifestyle is really about the associated feeling of comfort and security. The Ferrari on the driveway (assuming the owner hasn’t got themselves into crippling debt over it) is a symbol of your abundance and therefore just how secure you are financially.
It’s a totem: as long as it’s there, you will know that you’re ok.
This doesn’t mean that you can’t appreciate the engineering and craftsmanship that it took to create your Ferrari. It’s the emotional payoff from all that, that we’re really talking about here.
You see: understanding the emotional payoff that you’re really chasing is key to getting the subconscious on side. Once you understanding the emotions, just like a practitioner of the Stanislavsky acting technique; you can start to recall and feel those emotions as you imagine yourself in your desired situation. Make it real for yourself and in doing so: you’ll be softening your subconscious up for it becoming a reality.
If the subconscious can be made to feel ok with that outcome and those emotions, it will start actively helping you to bring it about! Not only will it stop resisting and causing you to self-sabotage, but it will start recognising choices and opportunities that you can take in the direction of your desired outcome.
This ALL starts with you accepting responsibility though!! If you’re still sat there, busy apportioning blame and absolving yourself of the responsibility; you’re effectively handing your power away to those things. You’re just building evidence in case against your autonomy, and THAT my friends, is no way to create a new life for yourselves.
So to recap:
- Take back your power by accepting responsibility for it ALL!
- Get clear on what you want and WHY you want it.
- Practice the emotional payoff through meditation, imagination or whatever method works for you in order to make it real for yourself.
- Get the subconscious working for you and observe as you start making more progress in the direction of your dream life, than you ever have before!
