Choosing to be lazy, can still be empowering! Here’s how…
I’m going to talk to you today, very quickly, about “The Lazy Choice”. Let me preface this with saying that; this is a very ‘borderline’ tactic that I’m going to give you here. It is, however; a tactic that is going to add to your life in a very beautiful way. Reason being: it is going to transform something that most of us do (myself included) when you have those days when you don’t want to do anything and just be lazy.
More broadly, these are days where (one could argue) you are happy being in a negative or disempowering state. Here is the thing though…are you ready?
This Blog is taken from a video I made for my YouTube channel. If you enjoy it, please check out the full video below and subscribe to my channel for future content!
As long as you make the conscious choice to be in a state, you have actually still empowered yourself. Even if that state you have chosen to be in isn’t in itself empowering.
Now, what do I mean by that? The example that I used with a coaching client this week was simply this: let’s say you have a choice between two different states of being. One that might be traditionally considered to be empowering or positive, and one that might not be. It could be getting out of bed and being active, or staying in bed and watching Netflix for the day. Both situations are represented by a choice, but here’s the funky thing: as long as you consciously choose to stay in bed and watch Netflix all day, the fact that you have checked in with yourself, asked “do I want to stay in bed all day and watch Netflix?” and followed through with it; means that you have something to celebrate.
Take a step back, rewind that in your mind and play it again.
Even if you have chosen to be lazy, the very fact that you have made the conscious choice to be lazy, means that you have still expanded your experience into conscious-creation and have still done something to celebrate. How much of a crazy hack is that?!
There is of course the contingent out there, that will use this as an excuse to watch Netflix every day, but ask yourself if you truly want to make that choice. Do you? Yes? If you make the choice to do that consciously, you have still expanded your experience in to being consciously involved in the process of creating an outcome. You also need to ask yourself, however: is there more? And if there is, do you want that? If not, then ask yourself why you don’t.
Don’t take half the cake, have all of it!
Ask yourself all of the questions, all the way through. Take the discussion with yourself all the way to the end, be honest and have some integrity when you answer these questions. Above all else though: be consciously involved in the process of creating the outcome.
The second that you do that, you are infinitely more powerful than you were before that choice was made. Celebrate it! Remember that the celebration is to honour your creation with a joyful activity that lifts your energy, ensuring that you are consciously connected to the outcome you have achieved.
Your celebration could be anything!
I like to, personally, dance naked. I love it (be honest, so do you) but it could be anything. It could indeed be watching Netflix, it could be a nice glass of wine, going to the beach, people watching… It doesn’t matter what it is, what matters is that it is something that makes you feel good, and that during that act of doing it, allows you to connect consciously to what you have achieved.
So, in the case of “The Lazy Choice” you would celebrate that you have watched Netflix all day, and more importantly: that you chose to watch Netflix all day. In this, your creative power expands and increases by that action, empowering you to go forward and direct the choice-making ability that you have just given yourself evidence of, into something else.
Please go and play with this in your life guys. Come up with areas in your life that you can introduce deliberate creation.
OK, Bonus Hack:
Spend half an hour challenging every thought that goes through your mind. If you think that you are thirsty, ask yourself if you are truly thirsty. Wait until the point comes when you are genuinely thirsty, not just listening to your subconscious mind telling you that you should be.
Play with being involved in what is going on in your mind. You will be infinitely more powerful and then, when those times come where you need to direct your creative power to call in an outcome at the optimal time; you will have the power to do so.
I hope this has clicked with some of you. If you enjoyed it, I produce regular Do It With Dan blogs, podcasts and videos.
