Your dreams are the seedlings of reality
We’re all dreamers in this life – whether dreaming of the past, present, or future. But do you dream with your eyes open? And are those dreams on a trajectory to becoming your truth? A purpose-driven, abundant and joyful life is about having that cognitive connection and understanding that, in order for there to be a shift in physical reality, there has to be a physical reality (and no, I’m not repeating myself)! We can sit there with our vision boards and visualization techniques ‘til the cows come home, but all of that means nothing if we can’t give them a physical presence. It is you alone that must birth the reality you truly seek.
The desire to make it real
Just because we’re all dreamers, doesn’t mean we all share the same desire to make them real. For some people, dreams provide a form of escape, while others will never be quite invested enough to pursue them. Nobody can give you that desire. Instead, dreaming with your eyes open is about making the decision to see your vision made flesh. Ask yourself: do I want to experience this in the ether? Do I want to close my eyes and dream the day away without showing up for what I truly want? If the answer is yes, then that’s okay! But for those of us who are willing to put in the work to see them made real, we must first acknowledge two different things:
- Recognize you are the only one who can do it.
- Realize you can’t achieve this overnight, but you can move towards it.
I believe our calling is given to us. When we have these dreams or visions of what life could look like, we need only move towards it – so that it may move closer to us! By taking just the smallest actions in the right direction, we are following the breadcrumbs to connect to it.
Life is no easy road
Very rarely is life a straight and easy road. Whether we like it or not, there are going to be hiccups along the way (some more unexpected than others)! We all experience fear, pain, regret, and doubt in varying capacities. When faced with such resistance, it’s at this point our dreams threaten to escape back into their jars (with the lids sealed firmly shut). Yet when you are connected to that outcome and with enough leverage over yourself – that in itself is enough to carry you through the challenge – and beyond.
The power of appreciation to transform situations
As we move through each and every unique experience, touching just a few lives in a meaningful way – whether that be of our friends, family, or work colleagues – is what really counts. When you’re so busy with what matters – you won’t care about how many ‘Likes’ that post got, or how many people tuned into your podcast or downloaded your free materials that day. When we focus on appreciation for the things working in our favor, it changes the resonant frequency that we’re operating at. Appreciation also makes us better able to deal with the things we don’t like.
When it comes to making tangible progress, appreciation alters the landscape to make every win monumental – from finding 10 cents on the floor, to a prospective new client leaving you an answer phone message. It’s a win, and it changes the landscape. When we focus on the fact that we’ve had a win – rather than try to quantify – appreciating it owes us up for more wins of grandeur and on a bigger scale.
