Your subconscious is your over protective friend!

It’s another week, filled with awesome potential. I hope you’ve all got your mojo working for you and are seeing the results of your hard work.
I’m kicking this one off with an illustrative story.

Two best friends, Sharron and Suzan, never go anywhere without each other. They grew up together, went to school together and have always been like sisters.
One night they’re at their favourite bar. The music is perfect, the drinks are lit and the energy is just how they like it. They’re having a great time, when out of the crowd comes a young man. He heads straight for Suzan, who embraces him warmly and they begin a separate conversation.
Sharron doesn’t like the look of this. She doesn’t know him from Adam. So she steps in: “Excuse me, my friend and I were having a private conversation!”
Suzan turns to Sharron and explains; “This is the guy I was telling you about all this time! He’s here now.”
They all embrace and have a great night together.

OK…a fictional (and fairly boring) story, but it serves as a solid analogy for what is potentially going on in your life right now, and why you’re perhaps not seeing the results that you would like. Maybe you’ve been experiencing awkwardness or anxiety as opportunities for change have presented themselves? Then this should speak to you as well.
So how do we unpack this story? What’s the metaphor? Let me unpack it for you (if you haven’t already yourself):
- The guy who showed up at the bar – he’s your new life. He represents your manifestation of exactly the kind of beautiful experiences you want to have.
- Suzan – is you! Your conscious experience.
- Sharron – is your subconscious mind. Protecting you (Suzan) from all these guys who come up to you in the bar, with nefarious intent, trying to spike your drink.
Sharron steps in to block you from these interactions, not because she’s your enemy but because she’s your friend! She is just trying to keep you safe.
But, once we learn the language of our friend “Sharron” and can communicate to her that “this is the guy we were talking about” or that – “this is the manifestation we were working on, praying for and working towards” – she will stop resisting. She’ll not only stop blocking and resisting you, she’ll start working for you and supporting your perfect night out!
So if, as I say, you’ve been finding yourself in a state of resistance to the various opportunities for change that have been coming your way, ask yourself: have I been taking the time to communicate with my subconscious mind? Have I told it about the new blueprint, the new ideal, the new way of doing things?
I’d suggest that you maybe haven’t considered your subconscious in this light before. You really need to understand that, while it is part of you, it needs to be treated as a partner. You might understand why you want to exact change in your life, but unless you communicate this to your inner ‘Sharron’ – she will fight you at every turn, leading to self-sabotage and a reversion to the life you were already living.

I’ve used this analogy before – but it’s like a plane taking off without setting the autopilot to the new destination. The pilot climbs to the required altitude manually, flicks on the auto pilot and finds him or herself right back where he/she started.

How do you communicate with your ‘Sharron’? Well; I have a number of free resources HERE to help get you started. In essence; you need to begin by centering yourself in the present (through prayer, meditation or whatever works for you) and then practice stepping in to the emotional states of your new life. Feel as many of the feeling associated with your new life as you can.
This emotional ‘frequency’ is something that the subconscious can understand. You can then start to reenforce the reality around that frequency, by taking manageable steps in that direction that push your boundaries, but not your buttons!

I always talk about that too: ease your subconscious in gently. Don’t freak it out and overload it, otherwise there will be push back. Coax it round slowly and you will find that you have more than just an ally; you’ll have a fully fledged partner, who will do the heavy lifting for you!
