Stop Meditating

Are you getting lost in the spiritual?

Hey everyone – another blog here for you, this time on why you should stop meditating! That’s right – stop

Now before I explain myself and what I mean by this, I need to give a shout out to Annette Ferguson or at Uncover Wealth Radio. You can listen to the full episode below, where we got into this topic and lots more besides. If you could all send her some good vibes and Dream With Dan love, I’d really appreciate it.

OK so…why do I say “stop meditating”?

Well look: I’m playing something of linguistic game here really. I am not saying “don’t meditate”, simply that you should remember to stop!

I know so many people, some of them friends, some of them clients; who have a borderline addiction to practicing meditation. They get SO much out of spending time in the spiritual realms and etherial planes, that they forget that they exist here…on Earth!

So my advice is not to, not meditate at all; but simply to remember that it has to be going somewhere practical. Spending all that time meditating has to be serving you in your desires and journey here in your physical realm. Otherwise: what’s the point?!

Be honest: are you meditating to escape your responsibilities?

Another thing that stems from this as well: is the “cookie-cutter” approach to meditating. That is to say: all too often, it is assumed that meditating is for everyone and that x number of minutes/hours per day is required, in order for someone to be expansive.

No!

We are all on different paths and we all have different things that resonate with us, in pursuit of our own individual goals. Yes of course, we should remain open to all possibilities, meditation included, but with open eyes!

For some, many in fact; meditation is a fantastic way to center themselves, bring their awareness truly to the present and clear their energy traps. For some it can go further still, connecting them to source energy and even transporting them spiritually to a higher realm.

For others: it’s a load of woo woo nonsense!

Now I’m not saying that I am one of those people. My own personal stance, as I say, is that we’re all different and if something works for you then great! But the disconnect comes when we don’t cultivate that awareness and asses whether some is working/we are aligned with it as a modality.

My mantra (if I have one at all) is Dream With Your Eyes Open

Again: not a slight against meditation! What that’s about is maintaining an awareness, as we embark upon every new endeavour that is designed to move us towards our goals/dreams, that they must have real-world applications. Otherwise the rubber will not meet the road! You have to be able to take physical action, in order to experience physical results.

If you want financial abundance, let’s say; then how much do you think that meditating is going to contribute towards that? I am a big fan of the Lincoln saying:

“Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.”

Abraham Lincoln

I think this is absolutely great and speaks to lot of what I teach, but note that he doesn’t say – “I will spend six hours sharpening the axe”!

Yes – honing ourselves and sharpening our mental faculties is vital, but it has to be with the aim of perfecting our executive strategy. If the metaphorical ‘axe sharpening’ does not serve the execution of physical action; it is a waste of your time!

So stop meditating!

Asses what it is about meditation that improves you and sharpens your axe. To do that, you need to be clear on the outcome that you want to see (but I’m assuming that you’ve put that work in already). Then be lovingly ruthless with looking at which aspects of your meditation practices are serving you in that outcome, and which are not. Identify where it stops serving you and make that the cut off point, to stop meditating and start acting!

Above all: find your own path. Figure out what clicks with you! For some people it’s taking time out to play music, for others it might be fishing. Whatever! I’ve done tantric work in the past, for some people: it’s nooky!

You have to assess your own needs.

If you wan inspiration for a jumping off point, you can look at having a personality test – in order to work out what kinds of practices are likely to match your frequency.

You can also look to others who appear to be similar to you. What practices did they use, to get to where they are now?

This is really about opening your eyes to why you’re engaging in meditation, or any other practice that is supposed to be about your growth. Really take that responsibility upon yourself to properly asses the situation, and in doing so: regain your power!

If meditation isn’t moving you forward…stop meditating!
