OK so…nice and easy subject for today’s blog: “The Purpose of Life”! 

“Sure Dan, just tell us all why we’re alive why don’t you? Way to bury the lead!”

OK, I get that. Fair enough, but lest you think that I am on some wild ego trip; allow me to preface what I am about to say with an acknowledgement:

This blog is taken from a podcast that I did with the incredible David Strickel, over at The Stream of David. For those of you who don’t know David and his work, he is a channel for a consciousness he calls The Stream.  He does some fantastic work with folks and has some amazing conversations on his podcast. I know for some of you, this may put you off. I get that it’s leaning heavily into the realm of the ‘woo woo’ but I implore you to put that to one side for a moment and just listen to the teachings. Even if you’re sceptical about such things, there is a profound message of truth here that is well worth sticking around for!

Ego was in fact something that came up in our conversation. Not mine necessarily, though I certainly would be included in this. Our desire to feel special creeps in everywhere. I asked The Stream about the concept of “New Earths”. I asked why it is that so many people seem hell-bent on being the ones to identify and bring them about, when we don’t even have mastery of this one yet!

As The stream pointed out: the idea of a “higher” or “new Earth” is simply a higher perspective on the one we’re experiencing. We are all experiencing personal bubbles of reality, because we interpret it through our senses and our consciousness.

Claims of the discovery of a “new Earth” are just attempts to expand that bubble out to more and more people. 

The flaw in that thinking, is that misses that we are all here on independent journeys. Independent strands of consciousness that stem from the same higher consciousness. But this should not be confused with our here and now as physical beings. We are independent strands of a collective, here to have a unique experience. 

Yes, we can tap into that collective consciousness and yes we are a part of it, but being on independent journeys means that not everyone will connect with that. You can’t, therefore, claim to be able to see a “new Earth” that includes anyone but yourself. This is really just a difference in perspective of what is anyway.

What those who make such claims of enlightenment don’t get, is that they are thinking in a non-expansive way.

Even though it may not feel like it. As The Stream points out: our world is one of polarities. We exist on the basis of contrast. Even down to our atoms! We are, at our very core, a being that exists between poles. Our journeys through life are meant to twist and wind, but ultimately expand the universe through our experience of it. 

This is where we get to the crux of the matter: when you view life from the higher perspective, you see that its purpose is to serve that expansion. You see that there is nothing going on, on our planet that is permanent or eternal and nothing going on that can end what you are! There is no such thing as ‘death’, suffering is just a matter of perspective and the things in our world that we perceive as negative, serve a great purpose in our expansion too!

The drive to eliminate all of the negativity in the world is, when viewed from the perspective of expansion; a foolish one.

“If you were to do so, your world would not exist” The Stream points out. This utopian “new Earth” that so many people lay claim to having discovered, doesn’t involve contrast! So how can it exist?

The common thread in every physical environment, even the ones that we can’t perceive on our own planet, is polarity. Regardless of the differences in physical environments, be they imperceptible or not, everything operates on polarity and vibration. 

This also speaks to a lot of what I teach in my programs about your desires and how they should be viewed as a polarity from where you are right now.

Becoming a vibrational match for that polarity is what will inexorably draw you towards it. 

One of the great takeaways from my chat with David and The Stream, was that we are all special in how we serve this great cosmic expansion, because of the unique paths we take. Where our ego’s get in the way and start telling us that we are special over and above others (because we have discovered a “higher Earth”, greater enlightenment/spirituality or whatever) we stop expanding and that’s where the rot can really set in. 

As The Stream pointed out: we do this most often in the way in which we deal with victims. Rather than enabling them to see whatever malfeasance or abuse that has befallen them as being a chance for expansion, we encourage them to remain energetically linked to it and calling for ‘justice’ of some kind. In reality, all we are doing is holding them at a vibrational match for the crime, not the solution!

This is not to say that people who are the victims of crime should not seek redress or take no counter-action, but the expansive solutions come when we hold ourselves at a higher vibration and a distance that allows for true perspective. We have to trust in that process and move to holding ourselves there, rather than staying in ‘victim mode’.

The gift in all of this, and real purpose of life, is to be able to transcend transgressions against us, or any other forms of suffering or experience, see them as an opportunity for expansion – then step into that expansion with grace and gratitude for all that we have around us.

Life is here for us. Trust in it.
